I hope you are enjoying the most creative summer you can remember. Summer is an inspiring time to me. I love to spend as much time outdoors as possible, soaking up some sunshine, enjoying quiet mornings with one of my cats near by, letting my mind wander here and there, and thinking about all the wonderful summers I’ve spent in the years gone by.
The season of summer screams me time! Of all the seasons, the daydream-esque days of summer make me want to try new things, explore, and take my creativity to another level.
How about you? Do you enjoy me time or is it something you only WISH you could let yourself do?
I get it, me time used to be the number one thing I struggled to do, too. But, since those days, I’ve become a big believer in carving out time for my creative self. I’m lucky! As a songwriter, I’ve had the opportunity to create and collaborate on many songs. I realize songwriting and being a musician is something that many people pursue only after they have retired or when they get around to it.
You work so hard to keep your daily life going…being a parent, marriage, your job. Creating is self care, it is stress relieving, and to be quite honest, can make you feel like a child again, when you get caught up in your own imagination.
Have you thought about my suggestions from my Create Vacay article? In that article I suggested some ways to carve out some me time. And before the wonderful days of summer get away from you, make a promise to yourself to take yourself on that artist date, get out of your routine, and surprise yourself with just how creative you can be with your own ideas.
I never thought my desire to write songs would turn into a career in the music business. Creating my songs has brought me great joy and amazing opportunities to collaborate with kindred spirits. And it all start with some me time…
