Updated on October 4, 2021

If Kratom is a new thing for you, you might be asking everyone, “How much kratom should I take” “how often can I take kratom?” It is a very natural question. After all, you don’t know the effects Kratom can have on your body.

There are enough shreds of evidence of Kratom being a powerful herb having some amazing health benefits, and resources online like Kratom.org that are dedicated to helping people learn more about it so they can decide whether it could be an option for them or not. But we still have to wait for some more clinical studies to completely understand it’s positive and negative effects. And there is still a lack of clarity about the dosage of Kratom. But here we are to make this easy for you. Let’s have a look:

Why Understanding the Dosage of Kratom is Important?

Kratom is a natural, but very powerful substance. Its high consumption can cause several harmful effects on your body. Even a low dose of Kratom can negatively affect some people. To build some tolerance against Kratom, you have to consume it regularly, and that too, in high doses!

What’s more dangerous is, while trying to build resistance against the Kratom, you may start feeling the overdependence on the herb. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people struggling with suitable kratom dosage, as well as its addiction.

To avoid all these problems, you must have to get the right dosage. It won’t only keep the negative effects aside; you will also start getting the full benefits of this natural substance. Here is more on the dosage of Kratom.

How to Dose Kratom?

The most interesting thing about Kratom is, its perfect dosage varies from person to person. There is nothing like the “one-size-fits-all” approach. A particular dose may be perfect for someone, and may not be suitable for you at all!

This is a thing of the experiment. You need to find your “perfect” dose to get the desired results, without having severe side effects. Numerous factors can affect the suitable dosage of Kratom. They are body type, age, sex, health condition, lifestyle habits, etc. Health experts are still working to determine the perfect dose of Kratom.

So, how do you decide the right dosage? You should go to the “experiment way”. The best and most suitable method is to start with a small amount of Kratom. In the beginning, start with a very low dose, and then note the effects you feel on your body. Increase the Kratom Dosage slowly and steadily and keep noticing how your body reacts.

Here is an approach we can recommend for you:

Take the first-minute dose, and wait for 30 to 40 minutes to decide whether you need more or not. If your body allows, take note more than one to two grams. And then wait for another half an hour. Only then you can have some idea about the dosage that suits your body.

According to Your Body Weight

According to Kratom researchers, weight is a very crucial factor to decide the suitable Kratom dose. According to the researchers, a dose of 20 mg per kg is usually effective.

So, a healthy human should not take a dose of more than two grams.

Here is a Kratom dosage chart according to body weight:

  • 60kg: 1200mg (1.2 grams)
  • 70kg: 1400mg (1.4 grams)
  • 80kg: 1600mg (1.6 grams)
  • 90kg: 1800mg (1.8 grams)
  • 100kg: 2000mg (2.0 grams)

The above estimation is for beginners only. Experienced Kratom users can take slightly higher dosages according to their experience and tolerance to the Kratom.

  • Up to 6 grams of Red Bali is considered a high dose.
  • Anything higher than 6 grams can be harmful, especially for beginners.

White Thai Kratom is known for its euphoric nature. You may get some similar effects of Red Bali Kratom with an extra energetic effect.

Maeng Da Kratom dosage

Maeng Da Kratom is considered as one of the weakest Kratoms out there. If you take a very low dose of Maeng Da, you won’t have any effect whatsoever. So, anything less than 1.5 grams is not effective at all.

  • In the beginning, you should start with 1.5 grams of Maeng Da Kratom.
  • If you have previously used Kratoms like Borneo or Red Bali, start with 2 to 2.5 grams of Maeng Da.
  • 10 grams of Maeng Da is considered a high dose, and anything beyond it can cause opposite effects.
  • 12 to 15 grams of Maeng Da Kratom can be harmful to an average person.

Kratom Dosage for Various Effects

Dizziness and nausea are two of the most common problems people experience due to Kratom overdose. If you feel any of these two problems, you should stop Kratom usage.

You can have some very good effects if you take a low dosage. It is a great natural stimulant and can become a sedative if you take it in high doses. Overdose can even cause serious conditions like euphoria.

Here is how you can much Kratom you can take for various effects:

Energy and Focus

Three to six grams of Kratom is suitable for improving energy and focus. For even better results, you can add your favorite Kratom to grape juice.

Pain and Anxiety

If you are struggling with pain and anxiety, you should consume up to 5 grams of Red Bali Kratom, up to 6 grams of White Thai, and note more than 10 grams of Maeng Da Kratom. But you should not directly get to this point. Always start with a lower dosage before increasing slowly.

For Opiate Withdrawal

Kratom has been a suitable alternative to opium for very long now. Kratom can reduce the opium cravings and can be helpful for those who want to give up the opium consumption.

For Opium withdrawal, start with five to nine grams of Kratom twice a day for three days. Then reduce the dose to five to seven grams on the fourth day, three to five grams on the fifth, and two grams on the sixth day.

While trying to withdraw opium, you should ask a professional detoxification export: “how often can I take kratom?” Detoxification experts can help you to get the suitable dosage for opiate withdrawal.

How Long Kratom Stays in Your System?

The longevity of Kratom effects may vary according to different factors. Here is a general estimation of how long Kratom can stay in your body’s system.

After the Kratom consumption, it usually starts acting after 15 minutes. The effects of minute Kratom dosages can remain for a couple of hours, and higher dosages can be effective for seven to eight hours.

The effects also depend on your body’s resistance. People who are habitual Kratom users may feel some delay in the initiation of its effects, and they even might require high doses of Kratom.

Kratom shows its maximum strength after 1 to 1 ½ hour of intake. If you take it on an empty stomach, you may feel slightly stronger effects. And if you eat something before its consumption, the effect may not be very strong.

Half-Life of Kratom

To understand how long Kratom stays in your body, you need to understand its “half-life”.

There is still a lack of clinical trials on Kratom, its effects, and how long it takes to get eliminated out of the body. Based on the research done thus far, Mitragynine, the primary alkaloid of Kratom has a half-life of approx. 23 hours. It means, the fastest Kratom half-life should be around seven hours and should take 1.5 to 1.6 days for complete elimination.

However, with a slow half-life spectrum, the complete elimination may require around 9 days!

According to a few cases, someone having less experience of Kratom can eliminate the Kratom substance quicker than habitual or long-term users.

Conclusion: How Much Kratom Should You Take?

So, that’s all about Kratom dosage. It is a completely personal thing and may have different effects on different people. You can’t find that “accurate” dosage without adapting a trial method. It is only an estimation of the dosages depending on various factors.

You have to find the perfect dosage on your own. But never start Kratom with a dose of more than two grams. And if you have some health issues, we advise you against its consumption.

  1. I have noticed over the last few years (for pain), my doses have become larger & more frequent.
I get my liver & kidneys checked every 4 months and so far, no adverse effects on them.
I have been taking between 30 & 50 grams per day and I’m feeling great but I also know this dose is not a sustainable solution and I need to bring it down to no more than 10 gms per day.
Do you have any advice or comment on this assessment?
