With a fast-paced life filled with work, social and personal commitments, it’s a struggle to take out time for yourself. We tend to prioritise nearly everything above our physical and mental wellbeing. But is that a sustainable way to live?
Neglecting your physical and mental health is an invitation to adverse repercussions. It will hamper your productivity at work, damage your personal relationships and overall happiness. And no commitment is worth jeopardising all that.
In order to lead a fulfilled life, you must take care of your health. If constantly obsessing over health starts to feel like a chore, we’ve got a solution for you. Check out our no-fuss guide to turn over a new, healthy leaf.
1. Eat your veggies
Apologies for sounding like a parent, but we have your best interest at heart. Eat your vegetables! Put them in your morning smoothies or midday snacks, however you want to incorporate them in your daily diet.
2. Sleep, sleep sleep
Stop refreshing Instagram for the 20th time and don’t give in to the temptation of watching the next episode. Getting sufficient sleep is much more important than binging American Horror Story. Give your mind and body the opportunity to rest and enjoy improved productivity and stamina.
3. Say goodbye to processed food
If you are an incorrigible snacker, then it’s time to switch to healthier snacks. Replace crisps and chocolates with nuts, veggie platters and hummus. Try to refrain from consuming processed food and refined sugar.
4. Stay hydrated
We don’t want to sound like a broken record, but drinking water can make a world of difference to your health. It removes toxins from the body and regulates body temperature. And of course, helps attain flawless skin. Ideally, you should drink at least eight glasses or 2 litres of water every day.
5. Slow down
Life in today’s hustle culture essentially involves hopping from one thing to the next without taking a break. But that’s not good for your body or mind. You must take breaks frequently to revitalise and recharge. And for God’s sake, don’t confuse taking a break with being lazy. You deserve a full lunch break and a vacation!
6. Take out ‘me time’
The continuous motions of life can get overwhelming, which is exactly why you need to take out ‘me time’. It’s an excellent way to reconnect with yourself and unwind. And no, it’s not selfish to put your wellbeing first.
7. Sweat it out
Working out isn’t just a hobby reserved for fitness enthusiasts, rather it’s a necessity to lead a healthy life. You don’t have to go all Dwayne Johnson, just practise any form of physical activity for 15-20 minutes every day.

8. Develop a routine
Freestyling life might feel spontaneous, but it’s not doing much for your overall health. To live a long and content life, it’s nice to develop a daily routine. Having a routine is great for your mental health as it lowers anxiety levels.
9. Focus on mental health
Often we take measures to improve our physical health but overlook mental health. But both are equally important. If you’re struggling with stress or any mental issues, there’s no shame in asking for help. Talk to a professional or try meditation to manage everyday stress.
10. Practice a hobby
When was the last time you did an activity just for the fun of it? Growing up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy hobbies. So sign up for that cooking class or bring out your art supplies from the storage, and practise the hobbies you love.
The Bottom Line
Being healthy isn’t as complicated as you might have thought. We hope these simple changes help you transform your health for the better.
