Rhapsody, a global leader in healthcare interoperability, recently announced the appointment of Sagnik Bhattacharyaas chief executive officer.
Bhattacharya will spearhead Rhapsody’s mission to enable the transmission, reconciliation, and transformation of healthcare data and in turn build connections for a healthier world. By delivering access to data, Rhapsody helps healthcare organizations break down silos, accelerate innovation, and improve patient care.
“I am excited to be joining Rhapsody as CEO. A robust, flexible interoperability layer serves as a critical foundation for healthcare’s continued transformation,” said Sagnik Bhattacharya. “Healthy data enables healthy people, and it’s a privilege to be part of an organization with proven Best in KLAS technologies serving over 1,700 customers around the globe that are committed to enabling this important data revolution.”
Bhattacharya brings extensive leadership experience in healthcare technology, collaborating with clinical leaders, CIOs, CMIOs, and other industry stakeholders to create positive patient outcomes. Most recently, as EVP and General Manager of HealthEdge, he led the company’s core solutions for payers. Prior to that, he served as Head of Payer & Provider Initiatives at PatientPing, accelerating development and go-to-market of a national patient-centered care coordination platform. In addition, Bhattacharya had a distinguished career at Epic where he led the Population Health and Outpatient EHR divisions. He is an active participant in national interoperability conversations, serving on the Advisory Board and Board of Directors for Carequality.
Bhattacharya joins Rhapsody at a time of rapid global expansion and product innovation, succeeding the transformational work of Erkan Akyuz, who successfully united leading data integration companies Rhapsody and Corepoint and transformed the business into a global healthcare interoperability leader.
“I value greatly Erkan Akyuz’s leadership and contributions over the past five years in creating the global leader that is Rhapsody today and I am delighted to welcome Sagnik Bhattacharya to Rhapsody to build on the strong momentum in the business and continue its important mission in healthcare interoperability,” said David Issott, partner at Rhapsody lead investor Hg. “Sagnik’s focus on customer success, operational excellence, and enterprise-scale technological innovation will help expand the reach and impact of Rhapsody across the healthcare interoperability ecosystem worldwide.”
Rhapsody addresses critical healthcare interoperability challenges in the shift from siloed, unusable patient data to a more seamless patient-centric experience, offering modular, flexible, and scalable solutions including integration, patient identity, and terminology management. Data needs to be matched, accurate, and available—in the right context at the right time—to meet the unique needs of healthcare organizations.
Rhapsody is the first vendor agnostic informatics partner that operates at the infrastructure layer, providing software and services extensible across use cases to enable a complete view of patient data. Furthermore, Rhapsody is the only interoperability platform that offers flexible deployment options, including on-premises, public or private cloud, hybrid, and more in the US and beyond.
The addition of Sagnik Bhattacharya comes on the heels of Rhapsody’s recent appointment of Jeff Chiumiento as chief financial officer. In addition, the company’s Rhapsody® and Corepoint® solutions secured the top spots in the Integration Engine category for the 14th consecutive year in the 2023 Best in KLAS®: Software & Services report.
