IMN Enterprises Creates Clinical Leadership Team with Joseph M. Sturdivant, MD, and JoAnn Lee, RN

Expanded C-suite elevates IMN’s provider excellence and quality of patient care

IMN Enterprises, a woman-owned and led family of healthcare staffing companies, announced today the establishment of its Clinical Leadership Team, hiring Joseph M. Sturdivant, MD, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and promoting JoAnn Lee, RN, to Chief Clinical Officer (CCO). Adding their combined clinical expertise to the C-suite will enable IMN to enhance patient quality of care by strengthening the support it extends to providers and clients through its three divisions, ICON Medical Network, Independence Anesthesia Services, and MedAdventures.

“To fulfill IMN’s mission of ‘do good, do well, save lives’ we prioritize quality—both in the high level of excellence of our providers and the quality of care delivered to patients,” said Janet Elkin, CEO, IMN. “Dr. Sturdivant and JoAnn Lee have been part of the IMN family for years, and elevating them to the C-suite ensures that our commitment to quality care is reflected in all areas of our growth. Dr. Sturdivant is still working on the hospital floor and Mrs. Lee has spent more than 30 years as a practicing RN. As a result, they view things differently and more critically, and they speak the same language as our providers and clients. That translates to exceptional quality care and puts IMN at a new level of delivery.”

Healthcare shortages in the U.S. are ongoing: the Association of American Medical Colleges projects a shortage of up to 86,000 physicians by 2036 and data shows more than 80% of U.S. counties—covering 30 million people—are classified as healthcare deserts, meaning access to healthcare is a challenge. IMN helps healthcare facilities obtain top-notch providers in a vast range of specialties so they can close gaps, meet patient needs, and deliver the highest level of safety. The new Clinical Leadership Team is the cornerstone of the company’s growth plans and will help IMN continue to expand and support more healthcare facilities across the country without sacrificing the quality and consistency of care.

Meet the Clinical Leadership Team

Joseph M. Sturdivant, MD: Previously serving as an IMN consultant, Dr. Sturdivant was invaluable as a peer-to-peer communicator with both providers and clients, helping navigate expectations and relationships while addressing any potential misunderstandings. He’ll continue in this capacity as IMN’s Chief Medical Officer while also developing a program to help educate residents and new healthcare practitioners about locum tenens employment. Given Dr. Sturdivant’s ongoing experience as a practicing locum physician, he can speak first-hand about the opportunities and benefits of working as a locum physician.

JoAnn Lee, RN:Since joining IMN in 2021 as vice president of quality assurance, Lee has been instrumental in cementing the organization’s commitment to patient care. Her expertise as an RN, coupled with her years of quality control experience, make her uniquely suited for the Chief Clinical Officer position. Her responsibilities will continue to include thoroughly researching each provider’s background, addressing malpractice issues, and serving as a liaison between the provider and facility management. She’ll also focus on increasing IMN’s internal education program to help its staff remain in tune with constantly evolving healthcare needs and trends in the industry.

“Both Dr. Sturdivant and Mrs. Lee bring enormous benefits to IMN, our clients, and our providers,” added Ashley Simpson, President, IMN. “As a licensed and practicing physician, Dr. Sturdivant speaks the clinical language needed to quickly understand and assess the needs of providers and facility hiring managers and administrators. Mrs. Lee’s deep medical background and expertise in quality and risk is critical to ensuring that all the practitioners we place meet the highest level of compliance and professional excellence.”
