Eliquis, also known as a blood thinner medication used for alleviating the risk of blood clots in the heart of people affected by stroke. What are the uses of Eliquis?

What are the side effects of Eliquis?

Some of the common side effects of this medication include bleeding in the:

  • Intestine

Bleeding caused by Eliquis may be severe.

What is the dosage for Eliquis?

For people that are 80 years and above, that weigh about 60kg, or are affected with reduced kidney function 2.5mg twice a day is the recommended dosage. Also, for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, 5mg is twice daily is recommended.

Treating DVT or pulmonary embolism take 10 mg two times daily. Dosage may be reduced to 2.5 mg after six months of treatment. If the medication is used for the prevention of the dangers of DVT after knee or hip replacement surgery, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg daily, 12 to 24 hours after the surgery.

What Drugs Or Supplements Complement With Eliquis?

As mentioned above, Eliquis is a blood-thinning drug that alleviates blood clotting. Though a higher risk of bleeding may be encountered if you take Eliquis with medicines that boost the risk of bleeding, which include:

  • Aspirin or products containing aspirin
