BAYADA’s Nurse Residency Program Recognized for Bridging Gap Between Academic Preparation and Clinical Practice

ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) sets global standard for residency and fellowship programs

BAYADA Home Health Care, a leading nonprofit home health care provider with a legacy of 50 years of compassionate, excellent, and reliable care, has achieved reaccreditation for its Nurse Residency Program (NRP) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP).

Only five other home health care organizations hold accreditation worldwide. This marks the third reaccreditation for the program in BAYADA’s Skilled Nursing practice and the first time the nonprofit applied for and achieved accreditation in its Home Health practice.

The ANCC PTAP is a globally recognized and distinguished accreditation that sets the standard for residency and fellowship programs designed to help registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) transition into new practice settings. It provides a structured framework and accreditation for programs that bridge the gap between academic preparation and clinical practice, utilizing rigorous, evidence-based criteria to assess and validate program quality. Programs are evaluated against five key domains:

  1. Program Leadership,
  2. Program Goals and Outcomes Measures,
  3. Organizational Enculturation,
  4. Development and Design (curriculum), and
  5. Practice-Based Learning.

The ANCC appraiser team identified several strengths within the BAYADA NRP, including:

  • Robust education and training initiatives,
  • Effective peer support strategies,
  • Consistent program delivery across all sites, and
  • Undeniable passion demonstrated by BAYADA’s dedicated staff.

“By investing in comprehensive transition programs for new-to-practice nurses, we’re proactively shaping the future of our nursing workforce,” said Nora Triola, BAYADA Chief Clinical Officer. “These strengths underscore our commitment to maintaining the highest clinical standards as we continue building the world’s most compassionate and trusted team of home health care professionals.”

BAYADA’s Nurse Residency Program is designed to equip nurses with less than 12 months of experience with the clinical skills, confidence, critical thinking and time management abilities essential for success in complex clinical environments, including home health care. The program incorporates extensive simulation training with computerized manikins and is supported by a dedicated staff of clinical educators and preceptors, ensuring a rich, immersive learning experience.
