ARC Innovation Spearheads Healthcare Transformation in Collaboration with RWJBarnabas Health in Jersey City’s SciTech Scity

Updated on March 28, 2024

ARC Innovation, the world’s premier ecosystem powering global health transformation, today announced a partnership with RWJBarnabas Health, the largest academic health system in New Jersey, as an anchoring partner for its innovation hub, HealthSpace2030, based in Jersey City’s SciTech Scity. RWJBarnabas Health will become a founding member in the project, making it the first design partner for the health innovation hub, a $450 million, 30-acre digital innovation “city” in SciTech Scity.

HealthSpace2030, to be located in SciTech Scity, will serve as a showcase for cutting-edge technologies aimed at promoting healthy living, managing chronic diseases, and enhancing health equity. As part of this initiative, ARC Innovation will facilitate the implementation of advanced home health technologies, including sensors, artificial intelligence solutions, communication platforms, and robotics, within residences in Scholars Village in Jersey City.

“This collaboration aligns seamlessly with RWJBarnabas Health’s mission to advance health equity and drive clinical innovation. By leveraging the resources and expertise of ARC Innovation, as well as future partners in the SciTech Scity hub, we will spearhead transformative healthcare solutions in our communities,” said Michael Prilutsky, Executive Vice President for RWJBarnabas Health and President and Chief Executive Officer for Jersey City Medical Center.

“This project brings together healthcare entities in the region, academic centers, medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies and startups to collectively create a space where key participants of the healthcare ecosystem will work together to determine what we need, how it needs to be delivered, and ultimately how to best create new solutions,” stated Orli Biger, CEO of HealthSpace2030. “RWJBarnabas Health will play a key role in accelerating digital health in New Jersey, and we believe this will serve as a model that can impact care delivery across the country.”

As part of the initiative, RWJBarnabas Health will help drive the design of the hospital of the future – including hospital rooms, surgery, intensive care units and clinics – and also have access to the global ARC Innovation network, which includes over 100 startups, 35 care providers and 20 industry partners.

About HealthSpace 2030

HealthSpace2030 (LAH 2030), pioneered by ARC Innovation, will showcase the latest technologies for advanced home health including sensors generating big data, Artificial Intelligence based prediction solutions, communication technologies, control towers, remote intervention and robotics. The most advanced technologies will be displayed within SciTech Scity and will be implemented in residences in Scholars Village and elsewhere in Jersey City. Solutions will be focused on promoting healthy living, coping with chronic diseases at home, such as Diabetes, and promoting health equity. Liberty Science Center and SciTech Scity are located in a low-income ward of Jersey City, which—like other underserved communities around the world—could particularly benefit from advances in digital and home healthcare that will be, wherever possible, locally implemented. It is also anticipated that new companies emerging from the hub would create job opportunities for residents of SciTech Scity’s underserved neighborhood.
