The Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment’s (AAPPR) board of directors is honored to announce the selection of Aisha DeBerry, MBA, CPRP-DEI, as its new president of the board of directors, effective March 24, 2023, through March 2025. AAPPR is proud to share that DeBerry will be the association’s first female black president.
AAPPR serves as the nation’s leading authority on physician recruitment, onboarding and retention. The organization strives to provide it’s members with the highest quality research, education and connection opportunities that drive the healthcare industry forward.
To meet those goals, DeBerry will explore opportunities to foster deeper connections between AAPPR, its members and partners. She’ll also focus on supporting AAPPR’s strategic imperatives, including empowering members and working to elevate the profession of physician and provider recruitment.
The most critical focus of her role will be leading efforts to diversify AAPPR’s board. DeBerry is eager to not only advance diversity within AAPPR, but to support physician and provider recruitment professionals in their work to create a more diverse healthcare workforce in their organizations. Her goal is to continue building and working with a board that reflects the diverse healthcare pipeline and the patients that they serve.
“Diversity, equity and inclusion is something I’m extremely passionate about and I am eager to continue building and working with a board the reflects the diverse healthcare pipeline our members are working to build,” said DeBerry. “We want AAPPR to be a resource for the tools and resources our members need to source and retain diverse talent that will provide patients from all backgrounds with the critical care they need. “
DeBerry brings with her over two decades of healthcare recruitment industry experience. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Provider Recruitment at UVA Health and has served on the AAPPR’s board of directors since May 2017. DeBerry received her Bachelor of Science in communication from the University of Utah and a master’s degree from Liberty University.
“Watching Aisha accept her role as AAPPR board of directors president was truly one of the highlights of my entire career,” said Emerson Moses, former AAPPR board president. “Throughout my presidency I worked to lay a foundation of moving towards a more diverse board. There is no one else I trust more to take this to the finish line than Aisha. I am confident that her passion for the industry and innate leadership ability will be instrumental in advancing AAPPR and the physician and provider recruitment profession as a whole.”
In addition to the election of DeBerry for the role of president, the board of directors has renewed terms for Marjorie Alexander-Vermeulen, MBA, CPRP; Allan Cacanindin, CPRP, CDR; Logan Mary Ebbets, MS, CPRP; and Stephanie D. Wright, MSA, CMPE, CPRP.
The 2024-2025 board of directors brings together a wealth of leadership and expertise that positions AAPPR for sustained success. With their strategic vision and industry expertise, the organization will continue to provide members and partners with innovative solutions to physician and provider recruitment.
