Updated on March 8, 2025

At-home IPL laser hair removal was given a further boost of medical credibility this week at the premier dermatology event of the year, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) 2025 Annual Meeting. Taking center stage at this gathering of dermatology professionals was Ulike, a hair removal device brand, being represented by renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Adam J. Rubinstein.

Ulike is gaining prominence in the field of brands producing at-home IPL hair removal technology, and their collaboration with Dr. Rubinstein at this year’s AAD is set to further their recognition within the industry. This is Ulike’s first appearance at AAD.

At the event, Dr. Rubinstein presented research on the increasing effectiveness and safety of at-home IPL treatments, especially the carefully designed products from Ulike.

Dr. Rubinstein noted how “Ulike has developed an exceptional IPL technology that’s compatible with a greater range of skin tones and hair types. By providing consumers an accessible, professional-grade solution that aligns with clinical standards, Ulike empowers people to take control of their skin health with confidence, bridging the gap between clinical procedures and everyday care.”

The American Academy of Dermatology plays an integral role in advancing dermatology care in the United States, with nearly all practicing U.S. dermatologists as its registered members. Receiving over 18,000 attendees on average, the AAD Annual Meeting is the world’s largest gathering of global dermatology experts, researchers, and industry professionals. The collaboration with Dr. Rubinstein and Ulike’s active participation at AAD reflects Ulike’s deepened commitment to supporting and advancing the international skincare community.

Increasingly sophisticated handheld IPL devices from companies such as Ulike are turning laser hair removal treatments from clinical procedures to easy at-home routines. The company’s latest product, the Ulike Air 10 claims “virtually painless treatment” that can cover the full body in just 10 minutes. Ulike also has a device designed especially for men’s coarser hair follicles, the Ulike Air X. And with skin discoloring being the main side-effect of laser hair removal treatment, Ulike’s products are designed to minimize discoloring across a wider range of skin pigments.

The prices of Ulike at-home hair removal devices, all under $350, are also significantly less than multiple clinic visits previously required for such treatments. It’s clear this technology is here to stay, and the prominent presence at AAD will only hasten its uptake.
