Emu Health Queens Announces New Joint Venture With NYC Leader Montefiore

Updated on November 17, 2022

EMU Health, a multi-specialty outpatient medical facility in the Glendale section of Queens, NY, has joined with Montefiore Health System, one of New York’s premier health systems, to enhance high-level care and support to the EMU women’s health service line.

This new joint venture will add gynecological services at EMU Health, with Dr. David Smotkin, an eminent Montefiore-affiliated physician, now seeing patients at the EMU Health Specialty Care Center in Queens.

Dr. Smotkin is Attending Physician of the Gynecologic Oncology division at the Montefiore Medical Center, and is also an Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Smotkin’s clinical focus is on the care of women with gynecological cancer; and he is board-certified and a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. His many degrees include his BA from University of California-Berkeley; his PhD from MIT; and his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from Yale.

“We’re excited to partner with a premier recognized healthcare system such as Montefiore and offer this caliber of care to our Queens community,” said Efrat Yaish, Chief Clinical Executive and Principal at EMU Health.

This new joint venture represents the latest initiative by EMU Health to continue growing its world-class medical and patient care offerings in Queens, through recruitment of physicians as well as broader collaborations with other leading medical organizations and entities.

“Making a positive difference in the community has been a key imperative in the founding and growth of EMU Health,” explained Daniel Lowy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EMU Health, “and we’re proud to feel that our Glendale home is not only bringing an expanding set of world-class medical care to Queens families, but is emerging as a leading medical treatment destination across the entire NYC Metro area.”
