Patrick Horine Joins ACHC as New Vice President of Acute Care Services

Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), a nonprofit accreditation organization committed to offering exceptional service and a collaborative accreditation experience, has hired Patrick Horine to serve as vice president of Acute Care Services, a new role. Horine brings more than 30 years of domestic and international experience in healthcare management and has dedicated a significant portion of his career to overseeing accreditation program business strategies and operations.

With Horine’s visionary leadership experience, he will assume responsibility for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved programs for Acute Care and Critical Access Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), Office-based Surgery Centers (OBS), and Clinical Laboratory accreditation. His oversight responsibilities will also extend to certification programs for stroke, joint replacement, and wound care.

“I am honored to join the ACHC leadership team and excited to continue the legacy of ACHC success as a formidable competitor in healthcare accreditation and certification,” said Horine. “I look forward to collaborating with the incredibly talented ACHC program teams to build on the success of programs like Home Health, Hospice, DMEPOS, and Pharmacy Accreditation have achieved.”

“We welcome Patrick as a part of our expanding leadership team,” said José Domingos, president and CEO of ACHC. “As a well-known leader in accreditation development, Patrick’s participation will accelerate ACHC’s ability to support more inpatient and outpatient facilities in delivering safe, high-quality care to their communities. This is an incredible opportunity to build and strengthen relationships under Patrick’s guidance and industry expertise.”

Most recently, Horine was President of DNV Healthcare – another CMS-approved accreditation organization responsible for the Region Americas Healthcare business that included a portfolio of standards-driven accreditation and certification services. Horine helped pioneer a uniquely designed accreditation program that integrated CMS and Quality Management System requirements, applying a survey approach that holds organizations accountable for ensuring patient safety. His prior positions include multiple leadership and quality management roles in hospitals.

Horine earned his master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville. He currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, and supports causes in his community for children, education, health, and social services.

“I truly believe that with all ACHC has to offer, we are positioned to be the preferred leader in healthcare accreditation, certification, and related education, not only within the U.S. but internationally as well,” added Horine. “The culture, the approach to surveys, and the way in which ACHC supports its customers will make the transition easier for organizations looking for a viable option. With the significant programs that ACHC has in place and what is to come, it is difficult to contain my excitement for the future of this organization and the growth we anticipate.”
