Brightview Senior Living Names Doug Dollenberg as Chief Executive Officer

Updated on October 3, 2022

Brightview Senior Living, a leader in senior living that builds, owns, and operates 46 senior living communities along the East Coast, announced that Marilynn Duker has stepped down as CEO of the company. She has been succeeded by Doug Dollenberg, who joined Brightview five years ago as President. Duker will continue to serve the company as Co-Chair.

“Doug is passionate about our culture and values, and he believes strongly in our commitment to being a Great Place to Work and a Great Place to Live,” Duker said. “I believe we could not have found a better, more empathetic and energized person to help lead Brightview into the future.”

“As I reflect on my 40 years at Brightview and its predecessor company, The Shelter Group, I feel incredibly fortunate,” Duker continued. “I had the opportunity to work with so many truly amazing people and have been privileged to work for a mission that I believe in deeply.”

Under Duker and Dollenberg’s leadership tenure, Brightview has established itself as an award-winning employer known for its people-first culture. Before joining Brightview Senior Living, Dollenberg served on the executive leadership team at Tessco in Hunt Valley, Md. He began his career as an engineer at Whitman, Requardt, and Associates before joining strategy consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where he worked across many different industries and functional areas.

“I am grateful to my fellow partners and the entire leadership team for their support as we’ve prepared for this transition over the past five years,” Dollenberg said. “Marilynn has provided tremendous leadership in fostering a culture of excellence and service across the entire Brightview portfolio, and I am excited to continue building upon that success. We have a bright, driven team, and I am passionate about nurturing our environment of teamwork and trust so our associates and residents can thrive.”

Duker joined The Shelter Group, Brightview’s former name, in 1982 as a developer. She became President of Shelter Development and Shelter Properties in 1995 and Brightview Senior Living in 2008.
