Fitch & Associates wishes to recognize and congratulate the graduates of the 2021 Spring Ambulance Service Manager (ASM) program.

Forty-Four EMS professionals from across the nation recently completed the blended learning program in Corpus Christi, Texas which included online learning and two weeks in a traditional classroom setting. Students were engaged in a rigorous curriculum designed to develop and enhance the skills of today’s effective EMS leader. Attendees gained insight and practical knowledge from Todd Stout, Jerry Overton, Frank Gresh, Jay Fitch, PhD, Anthony Minge, EdD, Thomas Moore, Todd Sheridan, David Nelson, DMin, Mike Taigman and other experienced EMS industry leaders.

Each ASM class recognizes one student with a leadership award. The honor is bestowed upon them by their peers. The award is presented to a classmate whom the students feel has exhibited exceptional personal and professional leadership qualities throughout the course and who the students feel represents the best in EMS. The Spring 2021 ASM leadership award was presented to Josh McGaughey of St Charles County Ambulance District (SCCAD) located in St. Charles, Missouri.

McGaughey has worked in both emergency and non-emergency EMS divisions and is currently the Platoon Chief at SCCAD for the inter-facility transfer division, which includes Specialty Care Transport. Along with SCT, SCCAD also offers Mobile Integrated Health as a service line and is involved in many other projects.

“I found value in every aspect of the ASM program. In my experience, the curriculum paired with top-flight educators was instrumental to me personally and I believe to any EMS leader with upward career trajectory in mind,” said McGaughey.

The Spring 2021 ASM leadership award is named in honor of Jerry Love. Love was a 2006 ASM graduate from Gold Cross Ambulance in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a model of the values and actions of the true EMS leader we all aspire to be. He passed unexpectedly just after making a strong impression on the ASM community.

Graduates will be recognized at the Pinnacle Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, August 9-13, 2021. You can find more information on Pinnacle at www.pinnacle-ems.com
